The Benefits of Laser Hair Removal
Unlike shaving, waxing, depilatories and plucking, laser hair removal provides long-term growth delay and permanent hair reduction. Laser hair removal is fast and effective. What Does it Feel Like?
Laser hair removal is typically a very tolerable procedure. On a scale of 1 to 10, most patients rate it a 3 or 4. The procedure is often likened to a rubber band snap. Certain areas may be more sensitive and a numbing cream may be recommended.
How Many Treatments will be Required?
Every patient is different. In general, depending on your skin pigmentation, it could take 4 to 8 treatments, spaced approximately 6 weeks apart to achieve maximum results. Our practice cannot promise permanent hair reduction - however, on average most patients can expect a 50-90% permanent reduction following a full course of treatments. You will need to expect touch-ups, how often depends on your hair growth cycle.
Prior to Treatment
- Do not pluck, wax, use a depilatory or undergo electrolysis in the areas you wish to have treated for 6 weeks prior to laser hair removal.
- Do not tan the areas to be treated for 4 weeks prior to treatment. Also avoid using self-tanning products for 2 weeks prior.
- You MUST shave the day prior to laser treatment - if you do not there will be a $20 charge.
After Treatment
- Some redness and swelling in the area is normal, and may feel similar to sunburn. This should resolve within several hours to several days after treatment.
- Gently clean the area twice daily, and avoid irritants for 7 days after treatment.
- Apply sunscreen for 6 weeks to treated area.
